Using Client Edit Mode with Elementor

Client Edit Mode supports both the block editor (Gutenberg) and Elementor. You set up protection the same way in both.

How it works with Elementor

1. Protect the Elementor page under Client Edit → Protected Pages.
2. Assign a Client Editor and choose the Text, Images and Links permissions.
3. The Client Editor can open the Elementor editor on their assigned pages and change the content you allowed.

What is validated

Every Elementor save is validated on the server against the stored page, using the same text, image and link rules as the block editor. This includes direct writes to the _elementor_data field, so a hand-crafted request cannot bypass the rules.

A Client Editor cannot:

• add, remove or move widgets, sections or containers
• change spacing, positioning or styling
• change anything on a page they are not assigned to

If a change is not allowed, the save is rejected as a whole with a clear message and the attempt is logged.

Tips

• Protect the page after you finish building it, so all elements receive their permission IDs.
• If you add new elements later, press Re-sync IDs on the Protected Pages screen so the client can edit them. See A Block I Added Later Is Not Editable.
