Developer Hooks and Filters

Dreamfox Client Edit Mode exposes filters and an action so developers can adjust permissions and react to blocked saves.

Filters

dreamfox_client_edit_permissions

Filter the permission set used for a protected page. Use it to change the text, image and link permissions programmatically.

dreamfox_client_edit_can_modify

Filter a single per-element or per-attribute permission decision. Structural changes (adding, removing, moving or restyling elements) never reach this filter — they are always denied.

dreamfox_client_edit_allowed_attributes

Classify the attributes of custom blocks or widgets into the categories text, image, link, layout, style and advanced. This tells Client Edit Mode which attributes count as which permission.

dfce_protected_post_types

The post types guarded by the block editor save guard. The default is page and post.

Action

dfce_save_blocked

Fires whenever an enforcement path blocks a save. Use it for custom logging or notifications.

Good to know

• Structural changes are always denied and never reach the can_modify filter.
• Hooks run on the server, so they apply to every save route: the block editor REST API, classic admin saves, XML-RPC and Elementor.
