What Your Client Sees: The My Pages Dashboard

When a Client Editor logs in, they do not see the full WordPress admin. They see a stripped-down, easy-to-understand experience.

The My Pages dashboard

After logging in, the client lands on My Pages. It lists only the pages you assigned to them, with two buttons per page:

• Edit — opens the page in the editor.
• View — opens the page on the front end.

Irrelevant menus and toolbar items are hidden, so the client cannot wander into Plugins, Appearance or Settings.

The editor

The editor is locked down for the Client Editor role: content-only editing, no style panels and no block inserter. The client edits text, images and links where you allowed it.

Optionally, an Edit this page link appears in the admin bar on assigned pages, so the client can jump straight into editing from the live site.

When a change is not allowed

If a client tries something that is not allowed — for example removing a button or moving a block — the save is refused as a whole. The editor shows a clear message such as:

Updating failed. This change is not allowed on this page: Adding, removing, moving or converting elements is not allowed.

Nothing is partly saved, so the layout you delivered stays intact. The attempt is recorded in the activity log.

Turning the simplified dashboard on or off

Go to Client Edit → Settings → Client Dashboard:

• Simplified dashboard — show Client Editors the "My pages" dashboard.
• Toolbar link — show an "Edit this page" link on assigned pages.
