Protect Your First Page and Add a Client Editor

You can tell a client "you may only change these texts and images" in just a few minutes. This guide walks you through the three steps.

Step 1: Create a Client Editor user

1. Go to Users → Add New.
2. Fill in the username, email address and password.
3. Set the Role to Client Editor.
4. Click Add New User.

The Client Editor role can only open the pages you assign to it. It cannot install plugins, change the theme, create new posts or delete anything.

Step 2: Protect a page

1. Go to Client Edit → Protected Pages.
2. Choose a page in the Protect a page dropdown.
3. Click Protect page.

The page now appears in the list below. Every block on the page receives a stable, invisible ID, so permissions do not depend on fragile selectors.

Step 3: Assign the client and choose what they may change

1. In the Protected Pages list, click Permissions next to the page.
2. Under Assigned Client Editors, tick the users who may edit this page.
3. Under Page defaults, choose what every assigned Client Editor may change:
   • Text — headings, paragraphs and button labels
   • Images — replace an image, its alt text or caption
   • Links — URLs and link targets
4. Optionally use Per-user overrides to give one user more or less freedom than the page default. Choose Allow or Deny for a category, or leave Page default.
5. Click Save permissions.

That is all. Layout, styling and structure are always locked and cannot be enabled per page.
