How to Install and Activate Dreamfox Client Edit Mode

Dreamfox Client Edit Mode lets you hand a finished WordPress site to a client who can update text, images and links — without being able to break the layout you built. The plugin is free.

Before you begin

Make sure your site meets these requirements:

• WordPress 6.5 or later
• PHP 8.1 or later
• Administrator access to the site

Client Edit Mode works with the block editor (Gutenberg) and with Elementor. You do not need to install anything else.

Installing from WordPress.org

1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New.
2. Search for Dreamfox Client Edit Mode.
3. Click Install Now next to the Dreamfox result, then click Activate.

Installing from a ZIP file

1. Download the plugin .zip file.
2. Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
3. Choose the .zip file and click Install Now.
4. Click Activate Plugin.

Verifying the installation

After activation you will see a new Client Edit item in the admin menu. It contains four screens:

• Overview — counts of protected pages and Client Editors, plus a log of recent activity.
• Protected Pages — protect a page and see who is assigned to it.
• Client Editors — the users who have the Client Editor role.
• Settings — general options, the client dashboard and advanced options.

If you can see the Client Edit menu, the plugin is running correctly. Continue with Protect Your First Page and Add a Client Editor.
