By default, the delivery date picker is optional — customers can skip it and still place an order. If your fulfilment workflow depends on having a delivery date for every order, you can make the field required so checkout cannot be completed without a date selected.
This feature requires the Premium version.
Once enabled, if a customer tries to place an order without selecting a delivery date, WooCommerce will display a validation error and prevent checkout from proceeding. The error message prompts them to select a date before continuing.
If you want the field to be required but don't want to create friction for the customer, combine the required setting with Auto-fill Earliest Available Date (also a Premium feature). With this enabled, the date field is pre-populated with the earliest valid delivery date as soon as the checkout page loads. Customers can change it, but they'll never accidentally leave it blank.
You'll find the auto-fill toggle in the same settings area under WooCommerce > Delivery Date.
