When to use category rules

If you have dozens of products that all share the same shipping restrictions — for example, a "Fresh Food" category that must only offer express couriers — setting a rule on the category is far more efficient than configuring each product individually. Every product in that category inherits the rule automatically.

Category rules are a Premium feature. Make sure your premium license is active before following these steps.

Steps

1. Go to Products → Categories in your WordPress admin.
2. Click the name of the category you want to configure (or click Edit under it).
3. On the category edit screen, find the Shipping Methods section added by the plugin.
4. Select the shipping methods you want to allow for products in this category.
5. Click Update to save.

Rule priority

When both a product-level rule and a category-level rule exist for the same product, the product-level rule takes priority. Category rules apply as a fallback when no product-level rule is set.

This means you can set a broad rule at the category level and then override individual products within that category that need different treatment — without touching the rest.

Verifying your setup

Add a product from the category to a test cart and go to checkout. Only the shipping methods you assigned to the category should appear. If the product has its own rule assigned in the product editor, that rule will override the category setting.
